Scottish Premiership side Hibernian have confirmed on their official club website that former Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Adam Bogdan will be released by the club at the end of his contract.

With the SPFL making the decision to bring the 2019/20 season to an end, clubs have started to make decisions regarding player futures. One club who has been active is Scottish Premiership side Hibernian. EFL loanees Marc McNulty returned to Reading and Peterborough United respectively earlier this week.

Now, it has been confirmed that the club has made another decision regarding the immediate future of one of their players. Goalkeeper Adam Bogdan – formerly of Liverpool, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic – will depart the club at the end of his contract.

Upon the announcement, Hibs issued a club statement thanking the released players for their efforts with the club. Speaking on Bogdan, the statement read:

“Adam is in his second spell with the Hibees, having re-joined in November 2019 on an initial short-term contract that was extended until the end of the season.

“The experienced Hungarian international dovetailed well with first-choice goalkeeper Ofir Marciano and has been a really positive influence on our younger shot-stoppers, Kevin Dabrowski and Paddy Martin.”

Bogdan will now become a free agent at the end of his contract with the club so it will be interesting to see how his situation pans out. He has picked up EFL experience with Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Crewe Alexandra during loan spells, also featuring for Liverpool in his time at Anfield.
